Joshua Lee Nance

Joshua Lee Nance, 10, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, in his residence. Joshua was born on May 18, 1989, in Bloomington, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area. He was a fourth grade student at Battell School in Mishawaka.

 

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Areta Nance of South Bend, and by his little sister, Brandilynne J. Nance at home. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, William and Jovanne Faught of South Bend; paternal grandparents, Wendell Nance of South Bend and Joyce Nance of Minneapolis, Minn.; and by his paternal great-grandmother, Mary Adams of Lima, Ohio. Joshua was a member of the Northside Little League baseball team, was a Bear Cub in Pack #504, and attended the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Mishawaka.

 

Joshua lived with his aunt and uncle, Evan and Cheryl Ferguson, and their three children, Ryan, Shawn and Amy, along with the paternal grandfather, Wendell Nance. Joshua will be deeply missed by his extended family and school mates. He was deeply loved by all and touched many hearts. ''He is now an angel in heaven.''

 

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 30, in Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, in Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Ternet will officiate, with burial to follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to the Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, 24535 Roosevelt Road, South Bend, IN 46614. The Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, handled services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Nance family.
