SOUTH BEND - John E. Moss, 79, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:41 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He was born on May 7, 1928, in Hopkinsville, KY, to Maxie and Lena (Kendrick) Moss. Mr. Moss is survived by a daughter, Doris Ann of Hopkinsville, KY; a son, Rodney Davis of South Bend, IN; several grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Belle Johnson and Iola Carter, both of Hopkinsville, KY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including Mary Hankerson of South Bend, IN, Lutisha Moss of South Bend, Carrie Warren of Indianapolis, IN, Ed Warren of South Bend; and friends, Ed and Kathy Serrat of South Bend, IN. A son, Governor Moss, four sisters, Madie, Magalene, Pinkie and Corine, and six brothers, Lester, Lid, Ben, Aaron, Raymond and Macadoo, all preceded him in death. Mr. Moss retired from the Indiana Laborers Pension Fund.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 S., South Bend, IN. Rev. Bernard Galic will officiate. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN, is handling the arrangements.
