SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Addie Lee Morris, 61, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who resided on Corby Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, passed away following an illness at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in her residence. Addie Lee was born on February 9, 1949, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to the union of Eddie and Bessie Mae (Lee) Holt Jr. Coming from Greenwood, Mississippi, in 1954, she moved to South Bend. She worked as a cook for over 43 years at the Sunny Italy Café. She was united in holy matrimony to John B. Morris Jr. She was a member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking, which she prided herself in being able to cook anything, and she also loved spending time with her family, dancing, telling jokes and watching soaps. Addie was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Bessie Mae Holt Jr.; one son, Albert Reid Jr.; a granddaughter, Courtney Thompson; a nephew, DeShawn Lawrence; and two sisters-in-law, Lillie Harley and Jeanette Davis. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband, John B. Morris Jr.; three daughters, Cassandra (Deron) Finley and Jolanda (Derick) Morris, all of South Bend, and Jeanette Morris of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sons, Steven Holt of Marietta, Georgia, and LaDale Reid of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Timothy, Jeffery, Kiara, Malcomb, DeAngelo and Nyla; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Maleiha; two sisters, Monica (Darnell) Parker of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tina (Curtis) Williams of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, Bobby (Brenda) Lawrence of South Bend and Melvin Lawrence of Atlanta, Georgia; five aunts, Berlene Hill of South Bend, Arlee Holt and Mattie Cates, both of Greenwood, Mississippi, Rose Benford and Ernestine Hill, both of Detroit, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Margaret Morris; and two special friends, Ruby Smith and David Hil,l both of South Bend; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Addie Lee Morris at noon on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in Alford's Mortuary, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will occur from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the chapel.
