SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Mary Evelyn (Lusby) Moore departed this life at 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Moore, a resident of Bendix Drive, was 79 years of age. On June 25, 1930, in Jackson, Tennessee, Mary Evelyn was born to the union of Willie Bob and Carnary (Anderson) Lusby. She relocated to South Bend and was a longtime member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church where she served on the Nurses Unit for seven years and for six of those years was its treasurer. Those who will mourn her loss include three sisters, Tennie (Superintendent Robert) Herron of South Bend, Barbara Estes of Louisville, Kentucky, and Alice (Felix) Tuggle; and one brother, Reverend Paul (Lillie) Lusby; and a sister-in-law, Samatha Bea Lusby, all of Jackson, Tennessee; along with other relatives. Preceding her in death along with her parents, were a sister, Anna Nora Burgess, and four brothers, Sherman Lusby, Johnny Lusby, Theodore "Pete" Lusby and Roscoe "T.H." Lusby. Viewing for Mrs. Moore will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14th, in Alford's Mortuary.
