Mary Alice Moore

MISHAWAKA - Mary Alice Moore, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 1 at 4:10 PM in Providence House, South Bend. Mrs. Moore was born on December 4, 1917, in Rochester, IN, as the daughter of Clair L. and Alice M. (Mc Cay) Downs. On October 5, 1940, in Mishawaka, as Mary Alice Downs, she married Darrel K. Moore, Jr. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Downs; and her son-in-law, Paul D. Faulkner. Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Faulkner, of Mishawaka; a son, Timothy J. (Evelyn) Moore, of Holland, MI; seven grandchildren: P. David (Tracy) Faulkner, Thomas J. (Angela) Faulkner, Anne Marie (Paul) Robinson, Michael P. (Monique) Faulkner, Richard J. (Karen) Moore, Colleen M. (Brian) Arendsen, and Mary Ellen (Jon) Wood. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren: P. Jacob, Benjamin, and William Faulkner; John and Joseph Faulkner; Claire, Elizabeth and Samuel Robinson; M. Austin and Alex Faulkner; Courtney and Timothy Moore; Jack Arendsen; and Zach and Abigail Wood. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka; the Rosary Society; and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. Mary was also an active member of the Battell Center where she enjoyed many years of line dancing with her friends. She was an Avon Lady for several years and enjoyed selling Avon products to her family and friends.

 

Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 4, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka, with the rosary to be recited at 3:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday November 5, at 10 AM, St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with The Reverend Jeffery Largent and The Reverend Derrick Sneyd officiating. Family and friends may call an hour before Mass in the church vestibule. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
