John Samuel Moore

SOUTH BEND - John Samuel Moore, 68, formerly of Portage Manor, South Bend, passed away on Saturday, April 14, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Moore was born August 6, 1938, in Michigan City, IN, to William E. and Goldie (Fitzpatrick) Moore. They and his brother, Paul, preceded him in death. He is survived by a nephew, Tony D. (Mindy) Moore of Seattle, WA, and their children, Audrey (Lexington, KY) and Kelsey (St. Paul, MN) Wagner, and Della Plank (San Diego, CA).

Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1958. He was an avid photographer and especially enjoyed nature. His photography is proudly featured by Portage Manor in both promotional materials and in albums greatly enjoyed by residents and staff. Mr. Moore was well-known for the hand-crafted clocks and buttons he made and sold, and also for organizing weekly transportation to and from church for himself and other residents.

A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at Portage Manor. Assisting with arrangements is Palmer Funeral Homes of South Bend.
