Nicholas MonteSano

Nicholas "Nick" MonteSano, 88, of South West street, Mishawaka, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Hospice House, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. MonteSano was born on August 28, 1913, in LaPorte, IN, as the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Pironi) MonteSano.

 

On July 3, 1938, in LaPorte, IN., he married the former Agnes Baldoni. She preceded him in death on June 9, 1999. Mr. Monte Sano is survived by two nephews, Dominic (Brenda) MonteSano of Kings City, Ontario, Canada, and Joseph (Sabina) MonteSano of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. One niece, Angela (Vito) Bellissimo of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as well as several other nieces and nephews in Toronto.

 

Mr. MonteSano was the owner and operator of Nick's Barber Shop in Mishawaka for fifty years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, where he was an usher for twenty years. He was a WW II Army veteran serving as a surgical technician. Nick was a member of the V.F.W. Post #360 in Mishawaka and the De Amici's Club in Mishawaka, and the Eagles Arie #2084, a member of the F.O.P. and a member of the Moose Club in South Bend. He enjoyed oil painting and has painted several painting of Mishawaka area and Notre Dame. Nick also enjoyed traveling with his wife, together they traveled to Europe, Mexico and Hawaii.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Where military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post 360, in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Monte Sano may be made to St. Bavo's, 2000, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
