Harry Alphonse Monhaut

Aug. 13, 1888 – May 28, 1973

Bremen - Harry A. Monhaut, 84, 220 E. Plymouth Street, died Monday morning at the Bremen Hospital following an illness of several months. A retired farmer, he was bon in Penn Township, St. Joseph County, Aug, 13, 1888, and had lived in the Bremen area for 45 years.

 

He married the former Margaret Dundon in Mishawaka, June 7, 1921. She died April 9, of this year.

 

Mr. Monhaut was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Bremen, the Holy Name Society of the Church, Bremen Senior Citizens and was a World War I veteran.

Survivors include five sons, Joseph, Ralph, Richard, B. Patrick, all of Bremen and Edward of Nappanee; five daughters, Miss Ruth Monhaut, Bremen, Mrs. Margaret Williams, Granger, Mrs. Helen Smogor, South Bend, Mrs. Cecelia Dolan, Elkhart, and Mrs. Joan Richard, Sterling Heights, Mich.; 27 grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Cecelia Monhaut and Miss Anna Monhaut, both of Mishawaka.

 

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Narcowich, pastor. Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
