Vera Milum

May 7, 1939September 18, 1976

Mrs. Vera Milum, 39, of 1102 W 4th, Apt 3, Mishawaka, was found dead in her home Saturday night.  She was an apparent victim of an overdose of sleeping pills, according to Deputy St Joseph County Coroner, Dr. Louis H. Grwinski.  The death was ruled a suicide.

Mishawaka police said they were called to Milum’s home by her brother, Tom A. Campbell, 618 S 28th, after he discovered his sister’s body.  They quote Campbell as saying that he went to her home to check on her after members of her family became concerned when they had not seen her.

Dr. Grwinski reported that Mrs. Milum had apparently been dead for two days before her body was found.

Mrs. Milum was in the process of moving into the apartment.  She formerly had lived at 20550 Martindale, authorities said.

Born on May 7, 1939, in South Bend, she had lived here her lifetime.  On April 26, 1969, in South Bend, she married William F. Milum, who survives.  Also surviving are three sons, Bruce R and Terry L. Wyllie and Billy Milum, all of South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Mead of Mishawaka and Mrs. Virginia Grocke of South Bend, and two brothers, James Campbell of Kouts and Tom Campbell of South Bend.

Friends may call form 7 to 9pm Tuesday in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue.  Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Millhouse.
