Sister Elizabeth Louise Mills CSC, (Sister Mary Immaculee), 93, died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999 is St. Mary’s Convent, St. Mary’s, Notre Dame IN. Sister Elizabeth was born on Nov. 2, 1906 in Washington, DC to the late Lawrence and Louise (Hammer) Mills. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross at St. Mary’s, Notre Dame, on Feb. 2, 1937 from Baltimore, Md., and made final profession in the congregation on Aug. 15, 1942.

 

From 1939 to 1979 Sister Elizabeth was assigned in secondary elementary and religious education ministries in various schools including St. Patrick’s Academy and St. Peter’s School in Washington DC, Our lady of Sorrows School, McAllen, Texas; St. Mary’s and Blessed Sacrament Schools, Alexandria, Va.; and St. Paul the Apostle in New York City. Sister Elizabeth also did office work at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She had resided at St. Mary’s Convent since 1979.

 

Wake service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Church of Loretto, St. Mary’s. Visitation will also be held from after 3 p.m. today in the church. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday , Nov. 6, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, followed by internment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s, Notre Dame. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, St. Mary’s. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
