Julia D. Miller, 93, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, South Bend, Ind., formerly of Chicago Trail Village, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 9:54 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Miller was born on Aug. 12, 1904, in Pittsboro, Ind., to Ed and Winburn (Hale) Dillon, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1970, coming from Indianapolis, Ind.

 

On Oct. 4, 1941, as Julia Dillon, she married Boyd L. Miller, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Luther (Evelyn) Dillon. She is survived by a niece, Julia (John) Hostetler of South Bend; a nephew, John (Gretchen) Dillon of Lanark, Ill.; five great-nieces and nephews, John (Heidi) Dillon, Deborah (Joseph) Glimme, David (Judy) Dillon, Daniel (Michelle Brown) Hostetler and Matthew (Stephanie) Hosteler; and by two great-great-nephews, Kyle and Austin Dillon. Mrs. Miller was a member of Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, the Schuyler Colfax Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of Eastern Star Pittsboro Chapter 416 of Pittsboro, Ind., and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, with Rev. Claude Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Brownsburg Cemetery, Brownsburg, Ind. Friends may call one hour prior to the time of services in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. The Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, is handling arrangements.
