James I. Miller

WYATT -- James I. ''Bear'' Miller, 64, of 66641 SR 331, Wyatt, Ind., died at 2:14 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, at St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind., in the emergency room. He was born on Aug. 30, 1933, in Elkhart, Ind., to Charles H. Miller and Alice (Fulton) Standiford.

 

He married Norma Reidenbach on June 5, 1955. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Beth A. Collar of Wyatt; a son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Julie Miller of Wyatt; three granddaughters, Amanda Miller of Wyatt, Ashlee Collar of Wyatt and Christina Withey of Honolulu, Hawaii; a grandson, Charles Kinnison of Wyatt; a great-grandson, Kyle Sauer of Wyatt; his mother, Alice Standiford of Elkhart; a sister, Marie Hedrick of Elkhart; and by a brother, Walter Miller of Three Rivers, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father.

 

Mr. Miller was formerly a semi-driver for Miller Special Delivery Service and he received the Million Mile Safe Driver Award. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Woodland. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19, Elkhart; Bremen Veterans of Foreign Wars; River Park American Legion; a member of the Lakeville Conservation Club and a former member of Akawahsim Campers.

 

Friends called from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Woodland, and may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. Karl Brenner of the church will officiate. Pallbearers for burial in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery will be Paul Ward, Fred Reidenbach, Jim Fisher, Jerome Campbell, Robert Schweisberger. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
