Lionel E. Micinski, 71, of Russell
Street in Mishawaka, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Sunday in St.
Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after a two week illness.
Lionel was born in Mishawaka on Nov. 21, 1925, to Casimir C. and
Isabell Rita (Wachs) Micinski, both of whom have preceded
him in
death.
On Nov. 26, 1945, Lionel married the former
Delphine M. DeMunck in St. Bavo's Catholic Church,
Mishawaka. She died Sept. 2, 1988. On Nov. 4, 1989, he married
the former Ruth Shorts in St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Mishawaka. She survives along with three daughters, Linda (John) Steenbeke
of Elkhart, Susan (Thomas) Shellenberger of Boca Raton,
Fla. and Janet (Joel) Beckman of South Bend, a
stepdaughter, Carolyn Fermoyle of Mishawaka; three sons,
Robert (Ginger) of South Bend, David (Darlene) of Tucson, Ariz.
and John (Debbie) of Mishawaka, 16 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and a brother, DeVon (Ann) Micinski of South
Bend. A brother, LaVern Micinski died in 1967.
Lionel retired in 1992, after 30 active
years with Lithotone, Incorporated, Elkhart. He was still serving
on its Board of Directors. He was a former president of Craftsmen
Club, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of
Columbus Council 1878, the Kiwanis Club of Mishawaka, and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360. He was a World War II veteran
serving in the Naval Air Force. Lionel was a 1943 graduate of
Mishawaka High School.
Visitation will be on Tuesday July 8, from 2
to 8 p.m. in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka,
where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. A funeral mass will be
at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 9, in St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert A. Yast officiating. Friends may also
call at the funeral home on Wednesday July 9, one hour prior to
the service. Lionel's final resting place will be in St. Joseph
Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made
to the St. Joseph County Special Olympics.
