SOUTH BEND - Helen E. Liva, 79, of Transitional Health Services of South Bend, died at 6:40 a.m.today in the nursing home. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, is in charge of arrangements.

MISHAWAKA - Services for Helen E. Liva, 79, of Transitional Health Services of South Bend, formerly of 100 Center Hi-Rise, who died Tuesday in the nursing center, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow.

Mrs. Liva was born April 7, 1916, in Bedford, Ind., and lived in Mishawaka for 35 years. On Feb. 18, 1939, in Bedford, she married Luigi Liva. He died Jan. 7, 1989.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Smeltzer and Mary Lou Sanders, both of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Harvey of Bedford and Betsy Hutton of Kingston, Tenn.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
