SOUTH BEND - Mary F. (Eastwood) Litherland, 64, passed from this life into eternal life at 8:35 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, in her home on Wall Street.

She was born on April 17, 1933, in South Bend, Ind., to the late William R. and Helena (Dietl) Eastwood, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of South Bend. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn A. (Eastwood) Bender; and by a brother, William R. Eastwood, Jr.

Mrs. Litherland was married in 1968, in South Bend, to Donald E. Litherland. He passed away on Nov. 8, 1981.

Mary retired from South Bend Controls, where she served as an inspector and union steward, and was treasurer of IBEW Local 1760. She was named Woman of the Year in 1985, and upon retiring in April 1994, had nearly perfect attendance for 21 years.

Mary is survived by four daughters, Mary (Don) Wraight-Young and Michele (Tony) Thomas, both of South Bend, Eileen (Bill) Kanewske of Athens, La., Melissa A. Litherland of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Arthur W. (Sharon) Pletcher of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, Kitty, Lori, Jerry, Keith, Andrew, Adam, Heather, Patric, Rebecca and Bethani; and by five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., where a Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

Services for Mrs. Litherland will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Brother Steve Nani, CSC, Chaplain of Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
