Lillian E. Lipetska

May 8, 1902 - April 12, 2001

Lillian E. Lipetska, 98, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001, in St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Lipetska was born on May 8, 1902, in South Bend, IN, to the late Charles and Mary (Semortier) Singler. On October 3, 1929, in South Bend, as Lillian E. Singler, she married Dr. Edward M. Lipetska, who preceded her in death on August 21, 1981.

She is survived by five daughters, Mary Ellen Madden of San Jose, CA, Suzanne (James) Cierzniak of South Bend, IN, Rose Marie (Ronald) Grontkowski of Mishawaka, IN, Jeanine (David) Wideman of South Bend, IN, Charlene Wilcox of San Diego, CA, a son, James (Brenda) Lipetska of Houston, Texas, 22 grandchildren, Deborah Judd, Dawn (Guy) Furlo, Patrick (Sue) Madden, Tim (DeAnn) Madden, Chris (Robin) Madden, Jennifer Madden, Mark (Libby) Cierzniak, Anne (Craig) Weber, John Cierzniak, Sara (Phil) Egnatz, Ellen (Chris) Foster, Lynne (Alan) Wright, Laurie (Larry) Foor, LeeAnn (Chris) Paluzzi, Lisa (Jimmy) Reynolds, Leslie (Doug) Keck, D.J. Grontkowski, Matthew (Gwen) Lipetska, Jason (Daun) Lipetska, April Lipetska, Jill (Michael) Kaniewski and Jenna Wideman; 30 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie Hutton, Catherine Raab and Hildegarde Singler, all of South Bend, IN.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Buckley; four brothers, John Josie, Carl, Rudolph and Paul; and by a son-in-law, Robert Madden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Lipetska was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Matthew. She was a member of the St. Matthew Rosary Society and the Ladies Dental Auxiliary. "She deeply loved her family and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great inspiration and will be dearly missed."

Memorial contributions may be made in Lillian's name to the Bishop Crowley Education Fund or to the Women's Care Center.
