Sister M. Odile Lindorfer

May 18, 1915 - April 8, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Odile (Marie Lindorfer) CSC, was born in Grand Rapids, MI, May 18, 1915, to the late John Rudolph Lindorfer and Margaret Lea McFaul Lindorfer. Sister Odile entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1945, made her first profession in 1948 and final profession August 15, 1951. Her two sisters predeceased her. Sister had two aunts in the Congregation: Sister Mary Cordula and Sister Mary Odelia, both deceased. Sister Odile spent most of her time in Ancillary Services, specifically at the Presbytery on the Campus of Saint Mary's. She kept the resident priests tidy and comfortable while they were assigned to Saint Mary's as chaplain and students at the University of Notre Dame, across the street. After the Presbytery was no longer in use by the priests, Sister Odile was assigned as Resident Convent Assistant, to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent, Miami Road. When that convent was closed, she moved to Basil Moreau Convent and enjoyed a renewed community experience. With the closing of Basil Moreau Convent, Sister became a resident of Queen of Peace Convent, Saint Mary's at Notre Dame. Sister was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Reception of the Body and Wake service at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
