Wiley T. Lewis

Wiley T. Lewis, 81, of Currant Road, Granger, Ind., passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, in Regency Place, South Bend, Ind. Wiley was born on Sept. 17, 1920, in Nolan, Texas, to Claude E. and Beulah (Heflyn) Lewis, who both have preceded him in death. Wiley was also preceded in death by one son, Wiley T. Lewis II on Dec. 7, 2000. Wiley retired in 1982 from A.E.P. (I&M Electric) after 38 years of service as a lineman and foreman. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, Ind., was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.

 

On Sept. 16, 1944, in Norfolk, Va., Wiley married Evelyn L. Mulderink, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Dennis and his wife, Polly Lewis of Niles, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jesse Lewis of Niles, Kristina and her husband, Darrin Sweet of Granger, Ind., and Michael Lewis of Elkhart, Ind.; and one great- grandchild, Zachary Sweet of Granger; one brother, Raymond and his wife, Doris Lewis of Midland, Texas; and by a sister, Juanita McKnight of Texas.

 

Private memorial services will take place. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
