Casimir D. Lemanski Jan. 5, 1922 - Feb. 3, 2009
SOUTH BEND - Casimir D. Lemanski, 87, died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, February 3, 2009, in the Sanctuary of Saint Joseph. Casimir was born on January 5, 1922, to Michael and Helen (Michalski) Lemanski, who preceded him in death. Casimir is also preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor (Cas) Plencer, Josephine (Harvey) Lippy and Irene (John) Vegh; and by two brothers, Stanley (Thelma) Lemanski and Edward (Vera) Lemanski. On May 4, 1946, he married Genevieve (Jean) A. Janczak in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. She survives along with three sons, Robert D. (Billie), James M. and John P. (Linda), all of South Bend. Casimir graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1941. He served in the United States Army, 2nd Battalion 323rd Infantry, in the South Pacific as an Army Ranger. During that time he was the recipient of three bronze stars. He was honorably discharged from the Army on February 1, 1946, and was a member of VFW Post 357. Casimir worked at Studebaker and Torrington companies retiring after 24.5 years with Torrington in 1984. He was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church. A private service was held on Friday, February 6, 2009. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at 6100 West 96th St., Indianapolis, IN 46278-6005.
