SOUTH BEND - Edna C. Leader, 87, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, formerly of Aspen Way, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the retirement community. Mrs. Leader retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. after 34 years of service. She was born Nov. 16, 1906, in Portland, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1921, coming from Portage.
On Dec. 24, 1923, in Crown Point, Ind., as Edna C. Manes, she married John James Leader. He died Jan. 8, 1994. She is survived by a son, John J. of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a sister, Ruth Janus of Chula Vista, Calif.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. There will be no visitation. Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
