Funeral services for Martin Layman, 58, New Carlisle, who died Sunday at the Holy Family hospital, LaPorte, were held Wednesday at St. John Cantius church, Rolling Prairie. Among survivors are four stepchildren, Edward Layman, Michigan City; Clement and Cecilia Layman, New Carlisle; and Mrs. Katherine Mrozinski, Rolling Prairie; four brothers, George, New Carlisle; Roy, Rolling Prairie, Jacob and Louis, Michigan City; six sisters, Mrs. Pauline Klosinski and Mrs. Cecilia Urban, Michigan City; Mrs. Francis Pulson, LaPorte; Mrs. Verna Bartz, South Bend; Mrs. Agnes Hushower, Buchanan, and Mrs. Louise Jepson, California. Funeral services were held this week for Martin F. Layman, age 57, of New Carlisle. Mr. Layman passed away following a five day illness at the Holy Family hospital, LaPorte. He was born in Galena Township, LaPorte county, Nov. 1, 1888, and had lived in New Carlisle for 16 years. In 1930 he was married to Mrs. Anna Layman. He was an employee of the South Shore railroad. Those who survive are his wife, four step-children; Clement and Cecelia, of New Carlisle; Edward, of Michigan City, and Mrs. Catherine Mrozinski of Rolling Prairie; four brothers, George, of New Carlisle; Roy of Rolling Prairie, and Jacob and Louis of Michigan City; six sisters, Mrs. Pauline Kmoniski and Mrs. Cecelia Urban, Michigan City; Mrs. Frances Pulson, LaPorte; Mrs. Verna Bartz, South Bend; Mrs. Agnes Hushower, Buchanan, Mich., and Mrs. Louis Jetson, Calif. The funeral services were held at St. John Cantius church near Rolling Prairie, with the Rev. Wencel Karp officiating. Burial was in St. John Cantius cemetery.
