George Byron Layfield

March 4, 1882 – October 4, 1939

George Byron Layfield, aged 57, died at 9:20 o’clock this morning in his home, 319 Dixie Way North, Roseland, this county, following an illness for six weeks.

He was born in Battle Creek MI, March 4, 1882 and came to South Bend 50 years ago marrying Martha Warner here on March 1, 1903.

Surviving in addition to the widow, are a son, Louis, of South Bend; a granddaughter, Nancy Alice Layfield, South Bend; a brother, Louis, South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Bertch, South Bend

Friends will be received at the Forest G. Hay Chapel after 7 o’clock tonight and until the hour of the funeral there at 2pm Friday.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
