James Lowell Lape

MISHAWAKA - James Lowell Lape, 58, of Newburg Drive, died Sunday morning in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Jim worked as a substitute teacher for the South Bend Community Schools System for over 10 years.

His wife, Joan McNeff, died in 1992, and his mother preceded him in death on May 28, 2006. He was born June 8, 1949, in Detroit, MI, to Jerome and Sally (Smith) Lape. Survivors include his father, Jerry; and two brothers, Doug of South Bend and Jeff of Rockford, IL.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 6, in the Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from noon until time of services in the funeral home. Jim graduated from Guilford High School in 1967 and Rock Valley College, Rockford, IL, and Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL.
