Sister M. Seraphina Lange CSC, 93, of Saint Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday in the convent. She was born Jan. 15, 1891 in Germany as Emma Lange. She joined th Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Oct13, 1911, coming from Berlin, Germany. She was received as a novice on Aug. 2, 1912 and made her professional vows Aug. 15, 1914. She was assigned to house keeping duties throughout her community life, serving as Sacristan at St. Mary’s College from 1930 to 1968. She also held other assignments in Ogden, Utah; Washington DC; and Lancaster, Pa.; and retired to St. Mary’s Convent in 1968. She was a seamstress and responsible for the creation of vestments during her years at St. Mary’s College.

 

Friends may call Thursday at the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Time of services on Friday will be announced later.
