SOUTH BEND - Giuseppe Lacopo, 77, of Diamond Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, in St. Joseph's Medical Center.

 

He was born on Dec. 3, 1919, in Gerace, Italy, and had lived in South Bend since 1954, coming from Italy.

 

Mr. Lacopo retired as a cook from the Fatima Retreat Center at the University of Notre Dame, and was a pizza maker for Lacopo's Pizzeria in South Bend.

 

On Oct. 12, 1946, in Italy, he married Carmela Rulli, who survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Maria Mittiga, Rita Kosowski and Angela Seaman, all of South Bend, and Rosa McGowan of Montgomery, Texas; three sons, Bruno Lacopo of Novato, Calif., Tony and Frank Lacopo, both of South Bend; seventeen grandchildren; a sister, Lucia Rinaldis of Italy; and by a brother, Francesco Lacopo of Italy.

 

Mr. Lacopo was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and had served in the Italian Army during World War II.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Holy Cross Catholic Church.

 

Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
