Joyce Elaine Kirkum

Joyce Elaine Kirkum, 77, of South
Bend, IN, passed away after an illness at 12:11 a.m. Monday, May
22, in her home. Joyce was born on August 16, 1928, in South
Bend, as the daughter of the late William Westwood and
Ruth Kolkiewicz. Mrs. Kirkum was preceded in death by a
sister, Phyllis Kasprzak, and her special family members of
J&D Home Care.
On March 29, 1946, in South Bend, she
married Richard Lester Kirkum, who also preceded her in death in
2002. Mrs. Kirkum is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Ronald)
Miller of Valparaiso, IN, Desma Prentkowski of
Indianapolis, IN, and Cheryl (Richard) Barnett of South
Bend; six grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Miller, Nathaniel and
Matthew Barnett, Penitence Gutierrez and Gwendolyn Davis;
four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Izaic, Azaria and Eyvind. Mrs.
Kirkum is also survived by four sisters, Mary Kopczynski
of South Bend, June Bilancio of Florida, Sharon Molnar
and Rosanne Petkovich, both from South Bend.
Friends may call for a celebration of life
from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, in the Hahn
Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral service will
be held in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, with Father
Henry Byekwaso officiating. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to sincerely thank
Joyce's caregivers, Sister Roseann, and friends, Bill Six and
Tony Krol. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative
Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437. A
private family burial will take place at a later date at Fairview
Cemetery Mishawaka, IN.
