South Bend Tribune 8/13/1931

Funeral rites for Sister Mary Clarita CSC, about 64, for years a member of the music department faculity of St. Mary’s Academy, who died Tuesday, were conducted this afternoon in the sisters infirmary at St. Mary’s. The body was interred in the community cemetery.

She had been in failing health for the last two years and passed away while attending the afternoon devotions of annual retreat in the chapel of Loretto. She was a native of Harrisburg, Pa. and before entering the order was Miss Mary Kirby. She was an accomplished pianist, entered the St. Mary’s novitiate in 1891, after receiving her music education in the east. She professed her vows in 1896, and as a member of the academy music department, was one of the leading instructors at the school until two years ago when ill health made her give up her work. Since then she had lived in retirement at the convent.
