Irene C. Kintz

Dec. 6, 1904 - March 30, 2000

Irene Cecelia Kintz, 95, of Walnut Grove, Ind., peacefully entered eternal joy on Thursday, March 30, at 10 p.m. while staying with her daughter, Marilyn Kessler in West Baden Springs, Ind.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1904, in South Bend, Ind., to Wenzel and Marie (Kotek) Zeithammer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Edward Kintz, whom she married on July 24, 1937, and by her brothers, Rudy and Fredrick Zeithammer and Arnold Caitham.

Irene was employed at Lee's Clothing and later at Alou and Ramada Inn motels. She volunteered at Michiana Community Hospital, where she was honored for many years of service. Irene had been active in Christ the King Catholic Parish's Altar and Rosary Society and Study Club. She began Bible Study Fellowship at 80 years of age and completed the study when she was 85.

Irene Kintz is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (David) Kessler of West Baden Springs, Ind., Gretchen (Jerome) Vandewalle of Forest Ranch, Calif., Mary Jo (Michael) Siney of Mishawaka, Ind. and Patricia (Thomas) Mollison of Niles, Mich,; a son, Eugene Kintz of Paoli, Ind.; and by 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Irene is also survived by her sisters, Rosemarie Hancock, Josephine DeMoss and Margaret (Mickey) Bruce; and by her brother, Ernest Zeithammer.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 3, in St. Anthony DePadua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Ind., with Mass of the Resurrection following at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow immediately afterward at St. Joseph's Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
