Delbert B. Key Sr.

Delbert B. Key Sr., 81, formerly of East Fox Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, July 18, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Delbert was born in Nortonville, Ky., on Jan. 15, 1921, and was a self-employed appliance repairman. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Commodore and Linnie Mae (Dillingham) Key; one brother, Alton R. Key; and by a sister, Willodean Key.

 

He is survived by two sons, Delbert B. (Candy) Key Jr. of Oceanside, Calif., and Dean (Laurel) Key of Mishawaka, Ind.; three daughters, Cheryl (James) Carpenter of Mishawaka, Debra Wroblewski of Athens, Ga., and Judy (Berry) Payne of Athens, Ga.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and by four sisters, Margaret (James) McKinney, Aminell (Joe) Harkin and Maymie (Richard) Pride, all of Mishawaka, and Martha (Thomas) Dosman of St. Peters, Mo.

 

Mr. Key has been cremated. Burial and a private memorial services will be held in Nortonville, Ky., at a later date. The Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, is handling local arrangements.
