Kathleen G. Kersten

January 4, 1918 – April 7, 1993

Kathleen G. Kersten, 75, of West Sixth Street, died at 7:50pm Wednesday in Medco Center of South Bend.  Mrs. Kersten retired in 1980 from Uniroyal Plastics Co after 24 years of service.

She was born January 4, 1918, in North Manchester IN and lived in Mishawaka since 1940.  In 1937, as Kathleen Bashore, she married Therman P. Gilbert.  He died in 1974.  In 1978, in Mishawaka, she married Donald T. Kersten.  He survives with a daughter, Penelope K. Takizawa of San Jose CA; two sons, J. Therman Gilbert of Brookland AR and Paul D. Gilbert of Colorado Springs C; two stepson, Mark of Wonder Lake IL and Glenn of Matteson IL; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Madeline Bashore of Bradenton FL.  She was a member of Mishawaka Women’s Club and Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Memorial services will take place at a later date.  Cremation will take place.  Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions maybe made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northern Indiana Chapter.
