Margie A. Kerr

April 28, 1972 - May 11, 2000

Margie A. (Zehring) Kerr, 28, of 25th Street, South Bend, Ind., peacefully entered the gates of heaven on May 11, 2000. She was in her home, surrounded by loved ones as the angels carried her home. Margie fought a long courageous battle with cancer and remained an inspiration to all she met along the way. She was a shining light and a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Margie was born in South Bend on April 28, 1972, to Larry and Kay (Gurtner) Zehring, who survive. She graduated from Adams High School in 1990 and attended Holy Cross.

On Nov. 19, 1994, she married Jason A. Kerr, who survives. The family left to cherish her memory include a sister, June (Joe) VanNevel of South Bend, their children, Zachary, Jocelyn, and Brock; Grandmother, Ruth Scott Zehring of Crown Point, Ind.; Uncle Ernest (Nancy) Scott of Ann Arbor, Mich.; father-in-law, Johnnie "Gilson" Kerr and his wife, Nancy; brothers-in-law, John (Jayne) Kerr, their children, Isasac and Anna, Jeff (Cindy) Kerr, their children, Tiffany, Jacob, Garrett and Griffin, Dana (Tish) Kerr, their children John and Rebekah; sisters-in-law, Jeanna (John) Sexton, their children, Chris, Jessica and Cameron; Julia Kerr, her children, Joshua, Amanda and Laura.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Virgil Zehring; a niece, Sarah Kerr; and by her mother-in-law, Peggy Sue Kerr.

Margie worked for many years at Waccamaw and was a manager at Kirkland's when illness forced her to retire. She was actively involved in the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Mishawaka.

Margie was a favorite among her nieces and nephews. She had a zest for life and loved people. She made friends wherever she went. Margie had the special gift of being able to brighten a room with her smile. She will be greatly missed.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main, Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, in the First Christian Church, 2511 E. Third Street, Mishawaka, with Doctor Greg Timmons officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the First Christian Church - Youth Fund.
