GRANGER - Phyllis Roberts Kandis, 84, of Granger, passed away
Tuesday, June 22nd 2010, in Morningside Nursing Home. Phyllis was
born October 4, 1925, in Mishawaka, to the late Harold and Arveda
(Styles) Roberts. She was raised in LaPorte, Indiana, graduated
from LaPorte High School and attended Indiana University in
Bloomington. In 1948, in LaPorte, she was married to Andrew
Kandis, who survives along with two daughters, Carol L. Wilson of
Indianapolis and Constance (David) Gregson Kakalia of Kauai, HI;
and three grandchildren, Lokahi (Justin) Vernon of Portland, OR,
Andrew Kakalia of Kauai, HI, and Liana Kakalia of Kauai, HI.
Phyllis was a member of Eastern Star, the BX chapter of PEO, and
Westminster Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered by all
who knew her for her loving kindness, generosity, zest for
living, love for travel, and endless sense of humor. Funeral
services will be held 12 noon on Friday, June 25th, in the
Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. Friends may
visit with the family two hours prior to the services. Burial
will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park cemetery. In
Phyllis's memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association , Northern Indiana Chapter, PO Box 4204, South
