Ferdinand C. Kallies

            Ferdinand Carl Kallies, 91, of 421 Cushing St., died at 11:45 p.m. Friday in his residence following a two-month illness.  He was born in Prussia, Germany on Jan 27, 1870, and had lived in South Bend 82 years, coming here from Germany.  His first wife Minnie died in 1921.  His second wife, Emma, died in 1951.  Mr. Kallies retired from Studebaker Corp. in 1929.  He was employed there as a carriage decorator.  Surviving are a son, Arno H. Kallies of Biloxi, Miss.; a daughter, Mrs. Beata Domke of Niles; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Orvis Funeral Home.  Services will be a 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Edmund W. Broders, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery.  Mr. Kallies was a member of the church.
