Leona Jozwiak, 89, of Saint Joseph Care Center, South Bend, IN, died at 10:45 AM on March 20, 2005, in Saint Joseph Care Center. Leona was born on October 12, 1915, to Stanislaw and Josephine Radecki, who preceded her in death.

 

On September 19, 1936, in South Bend, she married Thaddeus Jozwiak in St. Casimir Catholic Church, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1996. Her son, Thomas Jozwiak, also preceded her in death on August 30, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne (Robert) Grochowalski, and daughter-in-law, Susan Jozwiak of South Bend; six grandchildren, Michael (Lori), Robert, David (Monica) and Cindy Jozwiak, Tommy (Amy) Grochowalski and Rebecca (Ray) Rankin; great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Grace, Alexis Jozwiak, Brian Gum, Jack and Kevin Rankin; a sister, Alice Balint of Tennessee; and by three sisters-in-law, Mickie Radecki, Florence Jozwiak and Dorothy Pawlowski. Four brothers, Edward, Casimir, Thaddeus and Clement, and three sisters, Theresa Montgomery, Martha Yuhasz and Irene Orban, all preceded her in death.

 

Leona was a member of St. Casimir Church where she was in the Senior Citizens Club, the Altar and Rosary Society and the choir. She was also involved at the St. Casimir School with ICCL as a volleyball coach and cheerleading sponsor.

 

Services will be at 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at St. Casimir Church, 1308 Dunham Street, South Bend. Family and friends will meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 until 7 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where members of the St. Casimir Senior Citizens Club will join with the parish for the Rosary at 3:00 PM.
