Cecilia P. Jozwiak, 91, of E. Monroe
Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Monday,
Dec. 18, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She
was born on Feb. 7, 1909, to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Sinicki)
Ozdyck in Manistee, Mich., and had lived in South Bend
since 1925, coming from Manistee. On Feb. 20, 1928, as Cecilia P.
Ozdyck, she married Sylvester Jozwiak in St. Hedwig Catholic
Church, South Bend. He died on Feb. 21, 1994. She was also
preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Petros; and by three
brothers, Joseph, Florian and Jerome Ozdyck. Mrs. Jozwiak retired
in 1974 from a former local dairy company. Mrs. Jozwiak was a
member of St. Anthony Parish, St. Casimir Senior Citizen's Group,
and St. John the Baptist Senior Citizen's Organization. She is
survived by two grandchildren, Thomas (Jeanne) Petros of Chicago,
Ill., Vicky (John) Mariner of Arlington Heights, Ill.;
seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Becky, Courtney, Anne and
Molly Petros, all of Chicago, Jessica and Robert Mariner, both of
Arlington Heights; three sisters, Eleanor Ryan of South
Bend, Esther (Edwin) Gorski of Jacksonville, Fla.,
Lorraine (Raymond) Forycki of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers,
Al (Theresa) Ozdyck of LaPorte, Ind., Emery (Henrietta) Ozdyck of
South Bend; and by many nieces and nephews.
Friends called from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday,
Dec. 19, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, where a combined St. Casimir Senior Citizen's Group
and Parish Rosary was prayed at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 20, in St. Anthony
Catholic Church, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Interment
will follow at Highland Cemetery.
