Leo T. Joyal

Leo T. Joyal, 65, of 601 N. State St., was dead on arrival at 4:35 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was taken by police in the city ambulance after becoming suddenly ill at his home.  He retired in 1970 as superintendent of the steel shop of Dodge Manufacturing Corp., division of Reliance Electric Co.

Joyal was born in Lakeside, Mich., on April 10, 1908, and came to Mishawaka from Michigan in 1918.  He married Evelyn Miller in Mishawaka on Oct. 24, 1936.  She survives with a brother, Paul Joyal of Indianapolis, and three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Roberts of Mishawaka, Mrs. Edward Manuszsk of Pinedale, Calif., and Miss Mary Joyal of Chicago.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where arrangements are being completed.

He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, the Elks Club of South Bend, Aerie 2083, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Dodge Quarter Century Club and Supervisory Forum, and a lifetime associate member of Lodge 91, Fraternal Order of Police.

Services for Leo T. Joyal, 65, of 601 N. State St., who was dead on arrival at 4:35 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Hospital after a sudden illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church.  Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
