SOUTH BEND - Howard E. Jones, 75, of Brick Road, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Jones retired as the owner of Jones Body Shop and was a former bus driver for South Bend Community School Corp. He was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Mount Vernon, Ill.
On Aug. 1, 1938, he married Rose Irene Proll. She died in 1979. In 1985, he married Virginia Lee Rudasics. She survives with a daughter, Darlene Marazik of Northridge, Ohio; a son, Terry L. of South Bend; a stepson, Jay Rudasics of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Hildebrand of New Buffalo and Helen Westhues of Walkerton; and two brothers, Jerry L. of Michigan City and Melvin of Port Charlotte, Fla. A son, John C. Jones, died in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Entombment will be St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Granger, where military services will be conducted. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
