Mrs. Kathleen Winifred (Kist) Joiner, 77, of Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away after an illness on Tuesday morning, March 3, in her residence. She was born on Aug. 19, 1920, in Danville, Ill., to Everett and Ethel (Meeker) Kist.

On Feb. 14, 1938, she married Thomas W. Joiner, who survives. She is also survived by three daughters, Catherine Todd of Norwood, N.C., Mary Bennett of Allegan, Mich., and Theresa ''Trix'' Shriver of Defiance, Ohio; her son, Edward E. of Cape Coral, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Barbara Kleiner of Danville, Ill. She will also be remembered by her several nieces and nephews she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Mitchell; and by two brothers, Joseph and Richard Kist. Kathleen was a longtime member of the Granger Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Osceola Chapter 590 Order of Eastern Star. She was a charter member of the Granger ''Ha Ha'' Euchre Club for 49 years.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, and burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, Ill. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family requests, in lieu of floral tributes, that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph's Visiting Nurse Association, 810 Park Place, Mishawaka, IN.
