Mildred P. Jewell, 90, of Sterling House, South Bend, Ind., died at 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, in Sterling House. She was born on Feb. 20, 1909, in South Bend, to Mary C. (Berger) and Belden Haynes, both of whom preceded her in death.

 

On Sept. 25, 1943, in Cicero, Ill., she married Estel Leo Jewell, who also preceded her in death on March 7, 1994. Mrs. Jewell is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann and her husband, Peter Campoli of Mishawaka, Ind.; a son, William V. and his wife, Millie Baker of South Bend; six grandchildren, Brian Campoli, Brenda Jacobs, William J. Baker, Patrick F. Baker, Liane C. Hasbrook and Brooke C. Baker; and by 10 great-grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Jewell was a receptionist for the LeCharme Beauty Salon which was located in the First Source Bank Building. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, was also a member of the Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose #58.

 

Services for Mrs. Jewell will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Rev. Terry McBride of the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, will conduct the services. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 26, in the funeral home. Cremation will take place after services, with entombment in Riverview Mausoleum. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 333 West Colfax, South Bend, IN 46601.
