Joseph J. Jenczewski Jr.

 May 19, 1940 - Feb. 13, 2010
NEW CARLISLE - Joseph John "Joe" Jenczewski Jr., 69, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on February 13th. Joe was born on May 19, 1940, two years after his sister Nancy. They always celebrated being born on the same day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Loretta (Niemier) Jenczewski, and by a sister, Kay McCall. In June 1960, Joe married Kathy Cebrat, and they looked forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage this year. Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Tom) Ebzery of North Attleboro, MA, and Anne (Andy) Peickert of New Carlisle; two sisters, Nancy Dustman of South Bend and Diane Jenczewski of Mishawaka; four beautiful granddaughters, Allie, Danielle and Carly Ebzery, and Aimee Peickert; nephews and nieces, Dr. Ricky Tubbs, Brenda Tubbs, Kim Samulski and Ronnie McCall. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Janice Lampos, and brother-in-law, Ron McCall. He'll be missed by family dogs, Daisy of New Carlisle and Buster of North Attleboro. He was a avid bowler at PNA, and enjoyed his fishing trips "Up North" with his Dad, Al Kush, and the gang from Al's Anchor Inn. Later, he took up golf, and played Erskine, Elbel and Myrtle Beach with his "buddies." He always said the best golfing trip was the one with his sons-in-law Tom and Andy on Maui. He was a "die-hard" Cubs and Chicago Bears fan from his early boyhood days. Joe worked for many years at Wheelabrator. He then worked for the City of South Bend-Waste Water Treatment until his retirement in 2005. After retirement, his "routine" as he called it, was to take granddaughter Aimee and her friend Christina to St. Joe High School, work out at ProHealth, and stop at Martins for a muffin and coffee. He worked one day a week at ProHealth as a maintenance technician. Visitation will be in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend, on Tuesday, February 16th, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., with a short service following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. To send condolences, please visit www.kaniewskicares.com.
