Stanley (Steve) Janowiak

Stanley Janowiak, 85, of 1702 N. Brookfield, died at 7:20am Sunday in St Joseph’s Hospital after an unexpected illness.  He was retired in 1960 from the Studebaker Corp, where he had worked for 43 years as an assembler.

 

Born on May 6, 1894, in South Bend, he had lived here all his life.  On September 6, 1920, in South Bend, he married Hattie Wozny.  She survives, along with four sons, Raymond, Richard and Robert, all of South Bend, and Leonard Johns of Plantation FL; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Hechlinski and Mrs. Helen Jedrzejewski, both of South Bend.

 

Services will be at 10am Wednesday in St Stanislaus Catholic Church.  Rev. Casimir Grabarz, CSC, will officiate.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and from 2 to 9pm Tuesday in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home.  He was a member of the St Stanislaus Holy Name Society, the St Stanislaus Society, the DAV Chapter 5, Studebaker Local 5, and was a WW I Army veteran.
