Rose Mary Jackson

MISHAWAKA - Rose Mary Jackson, 73, of West 11th Street, died after an illness at 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Mrs. Jackson was born on Oct. 20, 1924, in Mishawaka, Ind., as the daughter of the late William C., Sr., and Clara (Fetters) Roggeman.

 

On June 3, 1944, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, she married Rene L. Coppens, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Eric Todd Coppens in 1984, and Jeanne Marie Allen in 1974.

 

On Nov. 7, 1987, she married Harvey Jackson, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Sharyn (Phil) Allen of South Bend; two sons, James L. Coppens of South Bend and Michael R. Coppens of Pensacola, Fla.; and by four grandchildren, Bryon Coppens, Christopher Coppens, Christy Allen and Dan Allen; a sister, Grace (George) Carter of Osceola, Ind.; two brothers, William C. Roggeman, Jr., of Mishawaka and Tom (Florence) Roggeman of Granger, Ind.; seven stepchildren, Tom Jackson of Mishawaka, Albert Jackson of Osceola, David (Rita) Jackson of Frostproof, Fla., Pat (Beverly) Jackson of Mishawaka, Eddie (Bethann) Jackson of South Bend, Rose (Jim) Szymczak of New Carlisle, Ind., Teresa Smith of Anderson, Ind.; and by eight step-grandchildren.

 

Rose Mary was employed for several years at Christianson's Furniture Store, Mishawaka, and was a volunteer for many years for the Literacy Council of St. Joseph County, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and the Rosary Society.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Elden Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Literacy Council of St. Joseph County, 225 W. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46601.
