SOUTH BEND - Dominic M. Germano, 76, died at 5:20 a.m. at Wood Ridge Assisted Living, South Bend, Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Dominic was born on September 4, 1931, in Mishawaka, to the late Frank and Josephine Germano. He was preceded in death by his wife, SybiIIe Germano, June 13, 2004. Survivors include a son, Andreas Jason Germano, a daughter-in-law, Dawn Germano; two grandchildren, Damon and Dylan Germano; two brothers, Rocco Germano and Anthony Germano; one sister, Catherine Koscielski; two sisters-in-law, Betty Germano and Ann Germano; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Dominic graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1949. He received a Bachelor's degree in business from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 1953, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He served with the Sixth Armored Calvary Division of the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, from 1953-55. Dominic and Sybille were previous owners of Germano's restaurant in Mishawaka. He retired from the restaurant business in 1998. Previously, he was employed as an accountant by Bendix Missile Plant, Associates, Gates Chevrolet and Pawating Hospital in Niles, MI He had been very active in Elks Lodge BPOE #235 in past years, having served in various leadership capacities, including that of Exalted Ruler. He was very dedicated to the Elks. Dominic will be missed by those who loved him. He had a passion for crossword puzzles and golf. He was a crossword puzzle aficionado and highly skilled.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, from 3 to 5 at Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 9, at St. Monica's Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka, at 10 a.m. Friends and family may also visit at the church one hour before the church services. Burial with military honors will be held immediately after the funeral at Fairview Cemetery.
