John Clair Geist

January 24, 1900June 25, 1974

 

Services for John Clair Geist, 74, of 1821 N. O’Brien St., who died at 3:30am Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after a four year illness, will be 2pm Thursday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N William St. Rev. Richard Chamness, pastor of the West Side Church of Christ, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm today in the funeral home.

 

Mr. Geist was the former owner and operator of the Geist Sinclair Service Station. 

 

Born January 24, 1900, in Buchanan MI, he had lived here most of his life. On June 23, 1923, in South Bend, he married Elsie Colditz.  On December 27, 1946, in Michigan City, he married Mabel Mead, who survives.  Also surviving are a son, Jack, of Bronte TX; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Shackelford of Odessa TX; two stepsons, Robert and Rondel Mead, both of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur of Granger, and three sisters, Mrs Myrtle Milliken of Lydick, Mrs. Arthur Chase of South Bend and Mrs. Arthur Mabry of Fort Lauderdale
