March 14, 1926 - Feb. 4, 2010SOUTH BEND - Theodore D. Gearhart, 83, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, February 4th, in his residence with his caregiver by his side. Theodore was born in South Bend on March 14, 1926, to the late Raymond and Lucille (Kline) Gearhart. He was a proud veteran, serving in the US Army during WW II and was discharged in 1945. On March 2, 1957, in South Bend, he married Bonnie J. Dankard, who preceded him in death on July 25, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his son Dennis in 1966. Theodore was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, a member of VFW Post #360 and American Legion Post #303. He retired from Studebaker after 18 years and was a machinist at Wheelabrator for 18 years. He is survived by his caregivers, Janet and Phil Stephens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., from 1 until 2 p.m. A service celebrating Theodore's life will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Officiating will be Fr. Cornellius Ryan. Burial is to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church of South Bend.
