Edward G. Garrow

May 23, 1924 - Nov. 21, 2002

Edward George Garrow, 78, of Wenger Ave., Mishawaka, passed away at 1:53 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 in his residence after a lengthy illness. Ed was born on May 23, 1924, in Springfield, Vt., to the late Floyd Frederick and Sarah Marita (Dumas) Garrow. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Wendell Floyd Garrow, Gordon Donald Garrow and Albert Leo Garrow.

Edward moved to Mishawaka in 1950 where on Aug. 18, 1956, in St. Monica Church he married the former June Irene Coffing. She survives with a daughter, Christine (Terrence) Trippel of Mishawaka, a son, Robert (Paula) Garrow of North Easton, Mass.; five grandchildren, Caroline, Timothy and Christopher Trippel, and Matthew and Sarah Garrow; a sister, Marita Eleanor Rodriguez of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Stanley Harrison Garrow of Oxnard, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ed retired from UniRoyal, Inc., in 1989 after 38 years of service where he was Manager of Sales Administration in the Coated Fabrics and Foam Department. He served in the Army during World War II in the China, Burma, India theater of operations. He belongs to the CBI-Veterans Association, St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 235, South Bend, Knights of Columbus Council 1878, the UniRoyal Management Club Retirees, Denver University Alumni Association and the American Heritage Organization. Ed was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and the University of Denver, Colo. In 1950. Among Ed's hobbies were golf, hunting, and fishing.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka where a Rosary/Vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25 in St. Monica Church with Fr. James Stoyle officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
