Bruno B. Garreffa, 89, of Eastgate Circle in Mishawaka, died at 8:42 a.m. on Thursday August 11, 2005, in Rosewood Terrace in Elkhart.

 

Bruno was born December 9, 1915, in Des Moines, IA to Frank and Mary (Romeo) Garreffa. His parents preceded him in death along with three sisters, Mary Barbalace, Stella Plagney and Frances Schiavone; and three brothers, Rocco, Anthony and Hiram Garreffa.

 

On February 22, 1941, in Detroit, MI, he married Rose Bellomo. She died on September 26, 1984. He then married Edna Thomas on October 29, 1988, in Mishawaka. She survives, along with two sons, Lawrence (Ardith) Garreffa of Elkhart and Michael (Judy) Garreffa of Mishawaka; two step-daughters, Anita Poorman of South Bend and Ann (Gary) Rupard of Mishawaka; one step-son, Mark (Tammy) Thomas of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Teresa Schimizzi of South Bend, Millie Price of Phoenix, AZ and Josephine Moore of Livonia, MI.

 

Bruno was the owner/operator of Bruno's Barber Shop in Osceola for 50 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of A.A.R.P., enjoyed gardening and was a true Detroit Tigers baseball fan. Bruno was a loving, caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always made time for his family. He will be missed by all but will never be forgotten.

 

Friends and family may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service on Monday in the Belmont Mennonite Church, 925 Oxford St. Elkhart. The Rev. Duane Beck, pastor of Belmont Mennonite Church will officiate.

 

Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
