SOUTH BEND - Theodore "Ted" D. Garis, 83, of South Bend, passed away suddenly on the evening of Thursday, December 13, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Ted was born on April 16, 1924, Chicago, IL, as the son of Jack and Helen (Przybysz) Garis. He was preceded in death by his parents.

On October 8, 1976, in South Bend, he married Anneliese Varbelow. Surviving are his wife, Anneliese; six children; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Deloris Prestwich-Bell of Georgia; and a brother, Richard (Rosemary) Garis of South Bend.

Ted worked as a Die Set/Machine Operator at RACO before he retired. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving his country proudly during WW II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing and racing and was a fan of Jeff Gordon.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, December 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday, December 17, at 3:30 p.m. with Father Mike Matthews officiating.
