A. Bina Garatoni

March 16, 1918 - Jan. 2, 2000

Bina Garatoni, 81, of Tangle-wood Trace, died suddenly after a brief illness at 6:02 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, in Saint Jo-seph's Me-dical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Bina was born on March 16, 1918, in Logansport, Ind., as the daughter of Romolo and Antonia (Salvadori) Baldoni. She married Fred Garatoni on June 20, 1937. Fred preceded her in death on March 27, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Angeline Mercantini, Diva Baldini and Carla Baldoni; and by a brother, Edward Baldoni.

Bina is survived by a sister, Louise Schiebelhut; a daughter, Karol (Gene) Harsanyi; son, Larry (Judy) Garatoni; seven grandchildren, Alicia Garatoni, Steve (Marie) Garatoni, Mike (Beth) Garatoni, Lori (John) Smith, Doug (Cathy) Harsanyi, Gina Harsanyi and Deanne (Rod) Anadon; 10 great-grandchildren; and by four nieces and two nephews.

Bina and Fred owned the Ramona Cafe in Mishawaka for 22 years before they retired in 1970. She was a lifetime member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church and the D'Amici's Club.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer officiating.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 6, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, where a wake prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
