Jerome A. Ganser Sr.

Feb. 22, 1919 - April 6, 2005

Jerome A. Ganser Sr., 86, of Cove Place, Mishawaka passed away at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. On Feb. 22, 1919, in Mishawaka, Jerome was born to the late Tony C. and Mary (Schweikert) Ganser. A son, Kent Ganser, also preceded him in death. On Sept. 7, 1946, in Mishawaka, he married the former Dorothy Dundon who preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1975. On Nov. 6, 1976, in South Bend, he married Dorothy Buzalski who survives along with three sons; Jerome "Jerry" (Teresa) Ganser Jr. of Duluth, Minn., Ted (Pam) Ganser of Arlington, Texas and Stanley (Judy) Ganser of South Bend; a stepdaughter Madeline (Orville) Wilcox and a stepson James (Judy) Hess both of South Bend; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a brother, Fredrick (Lois) Ganser of Mishawaka.

 

Jerome worked as a Meat Cutter for Fermens for 17 years and then for Mersits for two years before he retired in 1982. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He was a past president of the Meat Cutters Union and a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. Jerome enjoyed camping when ever possible and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful, loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be truly missed by all.

 

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, April 8th in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, with visitation two hours prior in the funeral home, with Rev. Dave Porterfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerome's memory to St. Monica's Catholic Church, or to American Cancer Society.
